Shalom House Retreat
Over night Group Rates & policies

Our two lodges, Serenity and Shiloh View, each have eight bedrooms with twin capacity, shared bathrooms, kitchenette, and a large common area (meeting room).

Over Night Rates:
Sunday - Thursday Night:  $50 double, $70 private (per person)  $25 day
Friday & Saturday Night:    $60 double, $80 private (per person) $35 day


Shalom House Conference Room use $75 a day with over night lodging.

  • There is a $75 cleaning fee charge for each lodge used.

  • There is a $75 per day charge for the Shalom House conference room use with over night lodging.

  • Deposits are nonrefundable.

  • Deposit is due 6 months in advance in order to hold your dates.  Please mail check to "Shalom House Events" at the following address: 

    • 15081 Brown Pleasants Road, Montpelier, VA 23192​

  • Final count of attendees and meals are due 7 days prior to your retreat.

  • If fewer people attend than the number for which you reserve, only the deposit for the number of people who actually attend will be applied to your final balance.  You will be billed for the number of meals based on your final count, even if fewer participants attend.  If more people attend than your final count (and this is approved by the Shalom House), you will be billed for the actual number who attend.

  • If you cancel your retreat and have paid your deposit, we may apply the deposit to another retreat for you (within 12 months), IF we are able to book another group for your original date.

  • If we do not receive your deposit within 7 days of the due date, this reservation is null and void.

  • We will only accept one check from the group.  Please do not send multiple checks.

  • Upon arrival we will collect & hold a major credit card number to cover any damages that may occur.

  • Final payment is due the first day of your retreat.  Checks are preferred, but we will accept a credit card with an additional fee of 4% added.

Additional Group Rental Information

  1. Double Room vs. Private Room:  A double room means two people will share a room that has two twin beds.  If you have an odd number of participants, the odd numbered person will be in a room by him/herself but be charged at the double room rate.  If a participant requests a private room or if you choose to put participants into their own room, you will be charge the private room rate.  The room rates are per person rates.

  2. Linens:  Shalom House will provide bed linens only (sheets, pillows, blankets) for all overnight accommodations.  Guests should bring their own bath towels and personal items (shampoo, soap, hairdryer, etc.).  Towels can be provided for a fee of $5 per set. 

  3. Furniture:  Shalom House furniture may be moved by participants to accommodate the retreat.  However, please return all furniture to its original position before departure.  An additional $100 will be incurred for furniture not returned to its original position.

  4. Smoking:  Smoking is not permitted in any of the buildings or grounds.

  5. Facilitators:  Facilitators are required to familiarize themselves with the Facilitator Responsibilities Form (emailed with reservation form) prior to the retreat and ensure compliance with all retreat participants.

  6. Inclement weather policy:  If  Shalom House cancels the retreat because of inclement weather, a full refund of the deposit will be made.  If the group chooses to cancel the retreat because of inclement weather, no refund will be made.

  7. Menu:   Using Shalom House catered menus, please make your meal choices for your group.  Shalom House does NOT provide alternate meals for participants with dietary restrictions but you may choose vegetarian, gluten free, or dairy free options from the menu options.  Please inform participants with dietary restrictions that they may want to bring supplemental food.  Rates remain the same whether or not participants bring supplemental food.  Beverages include: water, coffee and iced tea.

  8. If you chose to NOT use the Shalom House meal plan, please abide by our house rules.  If your group is small, you may bring your own food.  We have a full sized Frig available in the service area of the Farm House for your use.  Please note that the freezer is small – plan accordingly.  You may prepare your food (snack foods, make sandwich's, etc.) in the service area.  No cooking is allowed in the service area or in either of the lodges.  We ask that you eat your meals in the conference room.

  9. There is a Keurig coffee maker in the kitchenette in each lodge.  We have supplied each lodge with various Keurig coffees & teas.

  10. Property Damage:  Should damage occur by you or one of your attendees to any of the Shalom House properties or items within, a damage fee will be charged to the credit card on file.
